So I’ve finally finished Diablo 3 on normal mode and I’m a little under half-way through Nightmare. The game was extremely easy during the first run. It’s a little harder now, but I think Nightmare should actually be ‘normal’ difficulty. It’s still pretty hard to die. Sure you get a few unlucky lag deaths here and there, but other than that, I’m not really sweating it.
I’ve tried a little of public gaming and it is fun! I love the company of other people in my little demon-hunting adventures and I’ve made a couple of characters for that exclusive purpose. The first time I finished the game I picked a female barbarian.

I picked a female because I don’t know. And barbarian because I’m a melee guy and I love melee classes. Although I’ve had a chance now to play the ranged ones and they are just as fun. So I’m really looking forward to finishing the thing all the way to inferno.

I won’t give out too many spoilers though. As far as the story goes, I have mixed feelings. It’s not too bad but, I don’t like a feminine diablo. It’s not that I don’t like female villains, it’s just in this particular case, it made me feel icky to think of such a well-known figure and then see it pumped with estrogen. I don’t know. I also found a couple of plot holes here and there that kind of bug me. I really liked Leah and I’d hate to see her gone for good. There’s hinting that her spirit might be out there, but who knows (metzen does).

It’s hard not to compare the game with its predecessors and they have the nostalgic edge. I recently watched a little of Diablo 1 and realized how much the ‘feel’ of the game has changed ever since. I do like the darker feel of the original and it’s a shame it’s no longer really there. But I couldn’t guess how it could come back. It’s a combination of too many things to track. Things that are no longer possible or practical with modern technology.

All in all, I do enjoy the game- a lot. I’m pretty sure we’ll be having an expansion and that is great for me.
